Odeon Theater, Colwyn Bay, Wales, UK, 1936.

Here is a classic theater displaying the modernistic look that was the Odeon trademark.  There is red brick and a block of shops and flats off to the left and  yellow faience tiles and auditorium to the right.  It reminds me of the entrance to today’s multiplexes and is futuristic when compared to the row of houses at the far bottom right of the photograph.  Odeon’s architects were, at their best, far ahead of their time and designed theaters that couldn’t be mistaken for anything but theaters.

The Odeon Colwyn Bay was demolished in 1987.  Tragic.
