Here is the exterior of the original Regal Theatre on the South side of Chicago (not to be confused with the “New Regal”, which was formerly the Avalon Theatre).  It catered to an African-American clientele until it’s demolition in the mid-1970’s.  I think it looks beautiful, even if forlorn and awaiting its extinction.  We’ve lost close to 90% of our historic old theaters and for every one we save, like the Loew’s Kings in Brooklyn, I am compelled to honor one of the fallen.
