There are fewer things more poignant to me than an abandoned theatre. Here’s the entrance to the old Fairyland Drive-In in Kansas City, MO after it was abandoned in 1978. There’s a wistfulness to the battered sign with it broken letters, an evocation of much happier, yet long-lost times.  The Fairyland was adjacent to Swope Park–the Fairyland Amusement Park was there, too.  For me, this photo has a ghostly feel of something that is so forgotten now that maybe it never was,  Do you think?  large(Photo Credit to the Cinema Treasures Website)
